FAQ Questions

Nose Stud FAQ Questions

Q: Do you have a real jewelry store?

A: Our jewelry store and our jewelry studio is located in the historic and artistic haven of New Hope, Pennsylvania. Please see our hours and location.

Q: Do you sell wholesale?

A: We sell directly to our customers to keep our prices as low as possible. Selling wholesale would force us to raise our prices to allow others to compete.

Q: Do you accept returns?

A: We do accept returns for any reason within 60 days of delivery. Jewelry must be in new condition. However, unlike other body jewelry stores, we do allow you to take the jewelry out of the packaging to inspect it. Please see our 60-day no hassle returns page for more information.

Q: How do I make an exchange?

A: To make an exchange, just pack the jewelry in the original packaging, if you have it. Include either the packing slip (that came in the little envelope) or a print out of your order confirmation email and instructions on what you would like in exchange. Our address is:

AlluringBody
9 W Bridge St
New Hope, PA 18938

Instructions can also be found on our 60-day no hassle returns page.

Q: Do you ship to countries outside the USA?

A: We ship to many countries worldwide, including Andorra, Antigua and Barbuda, Aruba, Australia, Austria, Barbados, Belgium, Bermuda, Brunei, Canada, Cayman Islands, Cyprus, Denmark, Faroe Islands, Finland, France, French Polynesia, Germany, Greece, Greenland, Guam, Hong Kong, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Macau, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Netherlands Antilles, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Northern Mariana Islands, Norway, Portugal, Puerto Rico, San Marino, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Bahamas, Tobago, Trinidad, U.S. Virgin Islands, and the UK.

Q: Can I track my order in transit?

A: When your order is shipped, you will receive an email confirmation that includes a Tracking Number (for USPS Express Mail & FedEx 2Day Express) or a Delivery Confirmation Number (for USPS Priority Mail). A Delivery Confirmation Number cannot be used to track packages in transit, it can only be used to find out if any delivery attempts have been made and when your package arrives at its final destination.

Q: Must I be at the shipping address when the package arrives?

A: It depends. If your order is under $200, we do not require a signature. If your order exceeds $200 we require a signature upon delivery, except APO/FPO addresses. If you are not available, several attempts to deliver the package will be made. You can also pick up your package from the Post Office or the courier's designated location. Instructions will be provided by the courier if you are unavailable to receive your package. Call us if you have any questions.

Q: When will I get my order?

A: We pre-make most of our styles so you can receive the jewelry as soon as possible. To calculate the estimated arrival date for an item, simply add 1-2 days to the shipping speed. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you need help calculating arrival dates.

Q: Are your diamonds conflict-free?

A: Good question. Yes, all of our diamonds are conflict-free.

Q: Why don't you sell cubic zirconia?

A: The short is answer is that cubic zirconia isn't the same as a diamond. You've heard the phrase, "A diamond is forever?" That's the idea at AlluringBody. You can't get the same sparkle and brilliance with a CZ, and CZs tend to fall out of their settings because they're usually glued in - not properly set. We only sell what we feel comfortable wearing ourselves, and that means real, shimmering diamonds in high-quality settings.

Q: How do I know if your diamonds and gemstones are real?

A: All of the stones in our jewelry are genuine. If you were to inspect our stones with a loop you will find tiny inclusions that occur in natural stones. If you take our jewelry to a local jeweler, they will be able to verify this.

Q: Does your diamond jewelry come with a certificate?

A: All of our high-end diamond jewelry (.33ct or larger) comes with a GIA certificate. Our smaller diamonds do not come with a certificate because GIA certification is expensive and they do not certify smaller diamonds. Our in-house diamond expert, Ellie, inspects and grades our diamonds to verify the quality.

Q: Do you make custom bar lengths?

A: Yes we do. Please email or call us at 800-615-6496 for more information.

Q: I just got a piercing, when can I change my jewelry?

A: Please consult with a piercing professional. Most piercers recommend that the piercing heal completely before changing the jewelry. The healing time for nostril and navel piercing is 6 months to 1 year. The first time that you change your jewelry, we recommend that it be done by a professional in a sterile environment.

Got a question about nose studs? We've got the answer! Carolyn Stutzman, co-owner of AlluringBody, tackles your toughest questions and offers advice about every aspect of purchasing and owning a nose stud.

About fit

Q: I just received my new nose screw today. I tried to put it in, but I can't, and I don't know what to do. I was able to get my original piece back in for now. I think the new one is beautiful, though, and want to wear it. What should I do?

A: Nose screws can be tricky to insert - especially the first time. Watch this video for instructions on our Twist-and-Flip method. If you try this and still have trouble, you may need to have your piercer insert the nose screw for you.

Q: Has anyone ever complained about a nose pin getting stuck?

A: We get a lot of feedback from our customers, and I can honestly say that we've never had anyone tell us that their nose pin got stuck. A few people have mentioned that it was a little painful inserting and removing the stud, but the vast majority of customers find studs to be very comfortable.

Q: Will my nose stud fall out?

A: The bottom line is that everyone's piercing is different, which is why we carry the screw, L, and the pin variations. Feedback from our customers has been very positive regarding our pins. Most people find them really easy to change out and very comfortable to wear. Out of the thousands of nose pins we've sold, only a few customers have told me that their studs fell out while washing their face or sleeping. So while there are no guarantees, chances are good that you'll be really happy with it. It's also true that your piercing will probably shrink around the pin within a few days and make it more secure. So just be mindful if it's slightly loose initially.

Q: How long is the wearable part of the nose stud or screw (the part that sits inside the piercing)?

A: Our standard bar length is 6.5mm, or 1/4". This size fits most people. We also offer 5.5mm, and 7.5mm. If you need a different bar length, we also do custom sizing.

Q: What length should I buy? Should the diamond fit tight to skin? If so how tight?

A: There should be about .5 - 1mm of extra room. There needs to be a little extra room for when the nose naturally expands and contracts with heat and cold, etc. It should be an easy fit - not too tight or too loose.

Choosing the right style

Q:What gauge and style would you recommend for a new piercing?

A: The L-shape in 18 gauge is the best choice for a new piercing. I would suggest ordering it in the longer length to accomodate for the initial swelling of the new piercing. I also recommend using our "Perfect" 1.6mm size diamond or larger, because the Teesny is so small, it may fall into a new piercing.

Q:I don't know which style to purchase. I've heard that nose bones are hard to put in and take out and also that nose screws are uncomfortable. Help - I'm very confused!

A: Nose bones (or pins) are a little more popular than nose screws. The screws can flip around inside the nose and may be seen in the nostril; screws can also be difficult to insert. However, many loyal fans find that they fit really well and don't have problems with them. They are also very secure. Nose pins are very comfortable, but they can occasionally be tough to put in. Some people have a hard time inserting them into the piercing (which can be a little uncomfortable), while others find they are too loose and fall out. Most people, though, like them very much, and they're my personal choice as well. Since everyone's piercing and nose shape is different, it may take a little trial and error to find out what's right for you.

Q: Which lays flatter, the 1.6mm Prefect or the 1.6mm Bezel Nose Stud?

A: Both lay flat on the nose, but the bezel setting is a little lower than the prong setting, but the difference is so slight you may not even notice.

Q: I've seen diamond nose studs that seem to sit a little lower than AlluringBody nose studs? Why is that?

A: Other companies sell diamonds that are cut too shallow or glued to the setting. A shallow cut diamond doesn't sparkle nearly as much as a properly cut diamond and is also worth a lot less. All of our diamonds are premium quality and cut ideally for maximum brilliance. They're set the same way a high quality engagement ring diamond is set, so they don't come out.

Q: Should I get the 20 gauge or 18 gauge? Which is thicker?

A: Usually piercers use an 18 gauge (thicker) for initial piercings because it heals better. Then, once the piercing is healed (3-4 months or more), people like to switch to a 20 gauge so that the hole isn't so big, however, it is fine to stay with the 18 gauge if it is preferred. If you switch to a smaller gauge than what you are wearing, it could be loose for the first week or so. Just be careful during that time that it doesn't fall out.

Other questions

Q: How does gauge translate to millimeter width?

A: 20-gauge is about .81mm, 18 gauge is 1.02mm

Q: If I purchase your jewelry, can I bring it to a studio and use it for a first time piercing?

A: Check with your piercer to see if they will use jewelry purchased outside their store. Some studios are going to tell you that they don't pierce with gold, or that they won't use outside jewelry because they don't know the metal content. In my opinion, this is just to sell you what they have. The Association of Professional Piercers state that gold, especially 18kt (which is what we sell), is great for new piercings.

Q: What is the difference between a left and right nose screw?

A: There is some debate over which way to bend a screw for the left or right nostril. Some piercers bend screws opposite of the way I bend them, but the general consensus is that a left nostril screw is bent so that when it is laying flat on the table with the diamond facing you and the U hump at the top (like an upside-down U), the diamond should be on your left. When inserting the screw into the piercing, the diamond should be facing the face. However, if the opposite bend works better for you – stick with it. There is nothing wrong with wearing it that way.

Q: Do the prongs on your nose rings snag?

A: Other companies usually just push the prongs over and don't finish them, which causes roughness and snags. I round and hand polish each prong so that they are smooth.

Q:Do you have more photos of people wearing your nose studs?

A: If you go to our facebook page, you can see some photos of our customers wearing AlluringBody nose studs.

Q: Do you re-sell the returned jewelry?

A: We take our customers health very seriously. We do accept returns, and since there is no way to know if the nose ring has been worn, we sanitize all returns in a bath of hospital grade disinfectant that kills everything. Then the nose rings are cleaned in an ultrasonic bath, and then steamed. We also examine them closely, and if they have been altered or damaged in any way, they are scrapped for parts. By the end of the process, they are 100% clean and like new. I will also say that we don't get a lot of returns, so most of the jewelry that is sent out has not been returned.

Q: Is there any way to make the ball on the end of an AlluringBody pin nose stud bigger?

A: You can send it back and I will make the ball bigger, however, it will shorten the post a little. When you send it back, please include a note with your request, name, and order number so I know who it's coming from.
